Sherrie welcomed the announcement from the Conservative Government that with the Government’s Youth Investment Fund, young people across Britain are to benefit from the rebuilding and renovation of youth services in some of the Country’s most disadvantaged areas.
Today, £90 million was allocated to 43 youth centres and organisations to build or refurbish youth facilities, supporting the wellbeing of young people, providing safe places for them to socialise and giving them opportunities to develop vital skills for life, which will help young people find good jobs with good career prospects thus helping to grow our economy.
Commenting, Sherrie said: ‘’Young people in the UK, deserve to have the opportunity to develop vital skills for life and be empowered to be active and productive members of their local community. The Youth Investment Fund will increase the number of young people accessing regular, positive activities such as, sport and training projects by 45,000 per year. This will support their wellbeing and give them opportunities to develop vital skills for life and bright futures. That is why I welcome the announcement and I am confident this fund will enormously benefit the mental and physical wellbeing of our young people, helping them build confidence and realise their potential.”
